BOSL Hall of Fame – IN MEMORIAM

Richard McCullough (2018)

June 25, 2018

Our BOSL family lost a good one today. Our heart felt thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and teammates of Rich McCullough. (Ron Evinou)

I got the pleasure of seeing him through the summer for slowpitch and through the winter coaching hockey. He is a true gentleman and a class act, he will be missed (Kevin Elkins)

Last Tuesday night was an emotional night at the diamond. There was a profound somber mood as a result of Rich’s passing. I was hugging a few players in memory of Rich, and what was very touching, was that some of these guys didn’t know Rich personally...they had never played with him. Yet despite not knowing him, they were affected emotionally by his loss. It is a true testament to the brotherhood of BOSL. I am so proud to be associated with an amazing league and to be surrounded with a great group of guys. BOSL goes beyond simply playing ball and enjoying beers at QBs...we are members of an incredible fraternity. (John Stewart)

A devastating loss to all his family and friends. Rich touched many lives and his infectious personality won us all over. He was one of the only ones that called me "Gerrity" and oddly enough I'm going to miss that. My heart and thoughts go out to Suzie your family and all friends on and off the feild. You will be missed my friend! (Jason Gerrity)

I only knew him well enough to exchange pleasantries with, but it was very obvious to me that he was a genuinely nice human being. Such a credit to our league on all levels and he was an excellent captain. My sincerest condolences to Suzie, your family and to all of you BOSL guys that had the pleasure and honour of being close to him. (Michael Porkolab)

Heartbroken and shocked... Rich was a class act, great Teammate and friend. (Scott Young)

Rich was my first captain along with Steve Baro. He welcomed me to the league and made my first year enjoyable . A gentleman and genuinely nice person. Miss you coach! (Bryan Okeane)

You left us too early my friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Suzy, RJ, Blaze, Rene, and all past and present Vanderhouters. A true class act. May you be at peace, re-united with your MOM and Dad. (Mike Gibbs)

I can't believe this ! I'm shocked to be reading this. Our hearts go out to Suzie, and the family.. we've lost a great guy. (Tom Clancy)

Very sad, truly a great guy who will be missed! Our prayers go out for his family and teammates. RIP Rich. (Martin VanderHout)

What sad news. I had the privilege of being a teammate with Rich a number of years ago. He was a gentleman and good team mate. I’m shocked like us all that we have lost a good friend and outstanding member of our baseball league. My deepest sympathies go to Suzie and family. May Rich RIP. (Larry Beatty)

I played with Rich a few years back and he was a class act. I don’t remember him ever getting upset or acting out. I’m just so sad to hear the news. And I’m heartbroken for Suzie and the rest of Rich’s family. (Erich Schmidt)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Rich on June 25, 2018. Devoted husband to Suzie, loving father to Blaze and RJ and stepfather to René and brother to Caroline. Rich will be dearly missed by his family and countless friends whose lives he touched. His undeniable sense of humour, infectious laugh and warm smile followed him everywhere he went, whether it was at the community hockey rink or the baseball diamond where he devoted so much time and effort to the Burlington Old Timers League. He always brightened everyone’s day. His love for hockey and passion to support his community was evident as a longstanding Burlington City Rep referee for the Burlington City Rep Eagles. He will be immensely missed but never forgotten with love in our hearts. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Burlington City Rep Eagles or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

In lieu of the passing of Richard McCullough, their team (VF) is planning to embroider RM/15 on the left heart side. Many of us are going to toss ours in the pack as well. Do any of you want to join in?

Tyton needs jerseys. If you are interested in getting this done to your jersey, please bring your jerseys to Byron McCormack and he will look after it for you.
